Jane Clements Life Coach standing on rocks at Arthur's Pass NZ

Ask yourself: What’s holding me back?

What price would you put on finding the confidence to live the life that you want and not one that is expected of you?

Or maybe a better question would be…what’s holding you back?

There are many reasons why you might be stuck in a rut or wondering how things could ever be different, but often the only things that are holding you back are your own beliefs.

How many people do you know that seem to say the same things every time that you meet up?  They complain about their job (or lack of it), their family or their home.  Maybe they spend their time criticizing other people or comparing themselves unfavourably to others.

We all need a good grumble every now and again but when it becomes repetitive, it’s a sign that it’s time to take some action.

But how do you know what changes to make or how to get what you think you want?  After all, if you knew the answers then you would already have made the change wouldn’t you?

What's holding you back?

Maybe you know where you want to be but your internal voice is telling you that you’re not capable or that you don’t deserve it.

Perhaps you think that its better the devil you know…or you can’t see how things can be any better if you change what you are at least comfortable with.

Or do you think that any changes or problems that you have are too insignificant to discuss with anybody else?

Maybe you wonder how you could cope financially or perhaps you are too busy to find the time to spend on the things that you would really love to do, so I go back to the questions that I asked you at the very beginning.

What price would you put on finding the confidence to live the life that you want and not one that is expected of you?

Or maybe a better question would be… what’s holding you back?

And here’s a third question for you.

What are you prepared to do in order to get those changes in your life?

You can go online and research how to get what you want.

You can buy a self help book and read how others have done it

You can approach a life balance coach (maybe me :-)) and discover what is at the heart of what you really want, why you haven’t achieved it so far and learn what you can do to make progress.

To be honest, if it were as simple as reading articles on the internet or in a book then ask yourself, why haven’t you achieved what you want to achieve so far at this point in your life?

Have you ever thought about speaking to a life coach?

Why not have a trial session with a coach and find out exactly how you could work together?

You never know until you try and it could be that you have totally the wrong impression of what a life balance coach does.

Why not have a trial session with a coach and find out exactly how you could work together?

You never know until you try and it could be that you have totally the wrong impression of what a life balance coach does.

All coaches work differently but the best ones don’t tell you what to do.  They work with you, asking thought provoking questions and giving you exercises to do which will gradually unearth the best solutions for you.

It’s never a fact that one size fits all in coaching because each and every one of us has a unique set of problems based on our unique backgrounds and a good coach will work with you to discover what your core values are and work with them.

A good coach will also have a variety of techniques to work with.  Personally I like to use Mindfulness, CBT* and NLP* mixed up with a huge amount of personal life experience, plus a life coaching qualification.  The first session with me is always free so that we can both see how we get on together.

My superpower is that I can put people at their ease so the one thing that you don’t need to worry about is feeling comfortable talking to me.  Even if we have never met I can promise you that your first experience will be a whole lot better than you think.

And if you are still hesitating, why not take a look at some of the other articles that I have written on my website or sign up to a short self development course to get a feel for things?
